Where did the summer go?

During a walk-in hours session a few years ago I assisted a local refugee mother with a survey from her children's elementary school. The questions focused on how comfortable and safe her children felt in school, and if there were any suggestions for improvement. As we chopped our way through the pages (surveys are some of the most difficult things we tackle in walk-in hours, as many people who have fled persecution in their lives aren't used to being asked their opinion), we came to a question that asked if her children felt safe while traveling to and from school on the school bus. The mother looked up and said with enthusiasm, "Yes! They love the bus!"

Whether we're ready or not, that school bus will be revving up pretty soon, and we want to announce the beginning of our annual school supply drive. We've counted up 116 kindergarten-twelfth grade students and 65 of their preschool or younger siblings and created a back to school list that we need help filling! You can find the sign up sheet here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4aaaad28a1f58-2018.

During the drive our Instagram page (@cacherefugees) will feature quotes from refugee high school students talking about how they feel about going to school here in Logan, and they're sure to bring a smile to your face.
